Overview
For Ideagen's annual trends report, I was tasked with creating a campaign around the theme of "Invest in Different". I created a concept utilizing wildlife juxtaposed to human situations while keeping the brand's identity but creating something 'different'.
Problem
Each year, Ideagen releases a trends report with a new theme. The prior year's was 'Investing in Trust', which used dramatic black and white imagery of acrobats in situations that requires a lot of trust. The following year I was tasked with creating a concept around 'Invest in Different'. The concept must keep the brand's identity of black and wite images with their signature pink and teal squares.
Solution
I created a campaign that involes wildlife in situations that would be different for them but is a situation that highlights the topic of each chapter of the report. I also stepped slightly out of the brand's colours to highlight elements in each composition with gold. Further exploring the concept of 'different' in a subtle way.
Execution
It was suggested to try juxapostion as a concept for this report. My first ideas were more absurd, like a whale flying or an antelop pumping gas; but after discussions with stakeholders, it was decided to tone it back a little. They loved the idea of the wildlife, so I tried keeping them in their natural environments but including gold elements of the human world which tied into the chapter's titles. The rest of the report is more grounded with standard photography, which I laided out and designed as well.
Outcome
This trends report became one of the most popular designs in the company's history. Further social media posts and blogs images were created using the wildlife compositions and which made for a successful campaign in downloads and sales leads.
